Why Does Uncertainty Make Me Feel Anxious?

Uncertainty is a natural part of life. But, our brains are designed to keep us safe by trying to work out what's ahead, so when we don't know what's around the corner it can feel pretty scary! The truth is, even though you might wish you had everything figured out, even adults don't always have all the answers. Learning to accept uncertainty can make you more resilient and able to adapt to changing circumstances.

Here are some practical tips for accepting uncertainty:

1. Focus on what you can control: While you can't control everything in life, there are some things you can control. Focus on things that are within your power, such as your attitude, your effort and your actions.

2. Take small steps: When faced with uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and paralyzed. Break things down into smaller, more manageable steps. This will help you feel more in control and less intimidated by the unknown.

3. Embrace change: Change can be scary, but it can also be exciting! Try to see change as an opportunity for growth and new experiences.

4 Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness is a great tool for dealing with uncertainty. It can help you stay present and focused and reduce anxiety and stress.

5. Seek support: Talking to friends, or a trusted adult can help you process your feelings and gain a fresh perspective.

Remember, uncertainty is a normal part of life, and it's okay to not have all the answers! By accepting uncertainty you can become more resilient and better equipped to handle whatever comes your way.
